PLACES are still available for a charity’s women-only midnight walk event, which is expected to attract more than 300 participants.

St Teresa’s Hospice is hosting the event, through Darlington’s South Park, on Friday, May 17.

Several of the charity’s nurses have already entered as a team.

Hospice staff have taken part in previous years, usually taking the opportunity to enter in fancy dress, and want to encourage as many people as possible to take part in the event.

Hospice director Jane Bradshaw said: “Everyone loves a girls’ night out, no one more than our staff.

“I am delighted that our nurses are entering the Midnight Walk again, and we’re all looking forward to seeing their fancy dress.

“Last time it was chickens, but they’re keeping quiet on plans for this year, so we’ll just have to wait and see.”

St Teresa’s Hospice offers free care and services for residents of South Durham and North Yorkshire who are affected by life-limiting illness with the aim of improving their quality of life.

The charity needs to raise more than £2m a year to maintain its services.
