THE Dolphin Centre swimming pool will be closed to the public on Sunday, April 14, as it plays host to an all-day, Diddy League swimming gala. The Diddy League is a regional competition featuring eight to 12 year-old swimmers, and Darlington Amateur Swimming Club are looking to continue their team’s push towards the Division One final held at Tynemouth Pool in June. Club secretary Jane Teague said: “Given that in the first heat we finished fourth out of the six competing teams, we are hopeful of making the final and staying in Division One.” The gala has limited seating open to the public, with admission prices at £3 for adults and £1.50 for concessions.

SURGERY CHANGES: Darlington Borough Council has announced changes to two forthcoming ward surgeries. The North Road ward surgery has been moved from Wednesday, April 24, to Wednesday, May 1, from 6pm ton 7pm at Morrisons, in North Road. The Hummersknott surgery has been moved from Monday, April 20, to Tuesday, April 30, from 6pm to 7pm at Carmel College.
