VOLUNTEERS at a Darlington church have reached a fundraising milestone in their support for an African school project.
Members of Cockerton Methodist Church have now helped raise more than £7,500 for the Grace project, in Ghana.
Church members Clive and Pauline Beecham’s initial visit to Ghana last November sparked a challenge for Cockerton Methodist church members, who have engaged in a number of organised events over the past 12 months to support the project.
Their fundraising has helped fund two classrooms at the school.
Their final event held on Saturday (November 3) evening featured the Cockerton Ladies Choir performing ‘Songs from the Shows’ which raised £650.
Buildings of the final two classrooms for junior high students should be completed for the Beechams’ next intended visit to Ghana in January next year.
