ORGANISERS of an art group's annual exhibition say the event was a success, with more than 200 visitors coming through the doors.

Cockerton Art Group's exhibition, held at Cockerton Methodist Church on Saturday (October 27), showcased the group’s art work, with the pieces up for sale.

The arts and crafts stalls also did well, selling handmade gifts including metal crafts and gift cards.

Margaret Day, a member of the group said: “We have been exhibiting work on an annual basis since 2000, when the Methodist Church was refurbished, always during the October half term.

“The year’s event was such a success, with the cafe in the hall at the back of the church doing extremely well.

“Several other art groups in Darlington have recently closed, resulting in full capacity for Cockerton Art Group.

“At present there is no more space round the table, but if anyone is wishing to join us, there is a waiting list that you can be put on.”

Proceeds from the sale were split between the Great North Air Ambulance Service and church funds.
