A THIEVING church treasurer may be sentenced later this month despite his co-accused remaining at large.
Frank Pocock has admitted theft of up to £20,000 while treasurer at St Michael and All Angels Church, in Esh Village, near Durham.
The 62-year-old, of Wilks Hill, Quebec, near Durham, has remained on bail awaiting the outcome of the case of alleged accomplice Peter Taylor, 58, of Eslington Court, Gateshead, who is facing five fraud charges.
But he has remained at large and a warrant is outstanding for his arrest.
The cases of both men have now been adjourned until March 29, when consideration will be given to passing sentence on Pocock, even in Taylor’s absence.
