RESIDENTS are invited to have their say about access to a council’s online services.

Durham County Council is running a public consultation until November 25 in a bid to better understand the use of technology in delivering services.

The consultation recognises the changing ways people expect to contact the council, with digital technology now an essential part of daily life.

More than 100 council services are already available online and over 40 per cent of customers currently access these services in this way.

The consultation aims to better understand the needs of residents, businesses and partners, and to meet these needs by improving service delivery online.

Councillor Joy Allen said: “The consultation is an important part of our development as a modern digital council.

“The public we serve has an important role to play in helping us to determine what is important to them and their feedback will enable us to shape how we develop and deliver digital services.”

Alan Patrickson, head of digital and customer services at the council, said: “We are committed to offering a choice in how people deal with us. We encourage people to use this consultation as a way of making their needs known and to help us improve how we use technology in providing effective and efficient services.”
