HIGHER education students and recent graduates can visit the University of Teesside's annual careers fair on Friday to chat to a variety of employers, to find out about job opportunities.

The event is in the Brittan Building's sports and main hall, Middlesbrough, between 10am and 3pm, and is free.

MISSION SALE: A craft fair and book sale will take place at the People's Mission, in Peel Street, Thornaby, on Saturday, from 10am until 2pm. All proceeds go towards building repair funds. Entry is free.

FESTIVE CHEER: Guisborough Town Council is holding Christmas parties for elderly people at Sunnyfield House Community Centre. They are on December 7 and 8, at 2pm. Free tickets will be available at the centre, from next Monday, to Guisborough residents aged 70 or over.

HOUSE FIRE: Flames destroyed part of a kitchen, and left extensive smoke damage when fire broke out in a house in King's Court, Norton, early yesterday.

ASYLUM DEMO: Zimbabweans living on Teesside held a peaceful awareness demonstration at the All Saints' Parish Church, in Middlesbrough town centre, at the weekend. The aim was to tell the public they are law-abiding and want to return to Zimbabwe if the situation in that country improves.

PINK PERFECTION: Staff at Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust raised £320 for breast cancer research by organising a Wear it Pink event. Staff could come to work wearing pink clothes if they made a contribution of £2. They also held a raffle of selected pink products, including a CD album by the singer Pink, a cushion, sweets and shampoo.

HEALTHY AGENDA: The board of the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust meets tomorrow in the Training Room, Derwentside Business Centre, Consett, at 10am. All are welcome to attend.
