Consett YMCA

It was three out of three again for the Under-7s. The minis produced a great team effort to beat Jarrow 1-0, Louie Kelman scoring the only goal and Alex Johnson was man of the match.

The micros scored twice, thanks to Matthew Milburn against St Cuthbert's nil, with Aaron Grey the star performer.

Top of the table tots won 12-0 against Hebburn Town, Josh Lambert topping the scoring with four goals, Billy Hall and Cameron Askew both hit hat-tricks, Keiron Dover and Nathan Smith also on the scoresheet, Billy Hall was voted top performer.

Consett Sparks Under-8s lost 6-0 to Ryton Blues with Josh Blackett having a fine game for Consett. The Flames won a tough fixture 1-0 against Whickham Fellside Greens, Nathan Johnson hitting the winner, Craig Burdis took the man of the match honours.

Consett YMCA Torpedo Under-9s scored four against Jarrow's one, star player Daniel Drummond hit two goals with Liam Jobling and Joe Robson making up the total. This was an excellent team performance.

Consett Under-10s beat Redheugh Reds 3-2 thanks to an own goal and a Mitchell Reid double. The all-action Scott Hynd got man of the match.

The Nitros picked up a hard-fought point against Hebburn Town Gold, drawing 2-2 with Jake Walker continuing his good scoring form by hitting both goals. Aston Grey got the opposition's nod for star player.

After the previous week's defeat, all was forgotten for the Under-11s as they won 13-3 against Gateshead Sapipa, hat-tricks from Ross and Alex Chapman, two apiece from Thomas McAloon and Liam Smith with singles from George Pervis, Ryan McKinnon and a real corker from Christopher Rogan. Thomas McAloon put in the star performance.

The Under-12s Reds had a convincing home win against Low Fell Clarets 3-0, Michael Robinson, Sam Edwards and Calvin Hillary all hitting the target and last season's club goalie of the year Andrew McGill took the man of the match honours.

Consett YMCA Phoenix took all three points at Blaydon, winning 5-0. Dan Rose hit two, Lewis McCullough, Micky Fullerton and Gavin Connor were the other scorers. Luke Clifford gave an excellent performance.

The Vipers were unlucky at Felling, losing 5-4, Alex Davis (2), Callum Moody and Daniel Reed on his debut were the scorers with James Newton providing yet another fine display.

It was Dan Burlison's day for the Under-13s as he hit all four goals and took the man of the match award as they beat Winlaton 4-2.

A goal from John Moody and Callum Thompson put the Under-14s through to the next round of the County Cup, winning 2-0 against Seaham. Energetic midfielder Daniel Fodden was the pick of the Consett team.

The Under-15s started brightly with a goal from Lewis Broadhurst, but were beaten 4-1 by Winlaton. Consett missed their share of chances and were complimented by a fine game from Dan Parker.

Another star show from Under-16s Red's goal machine Andrew Reynnoldson saw off Redheugh 7-0. Three goals from Andrew and goals from Steven Shaw, Jonathan Howard, Keiron Westall and Joe Scriven sealed the victory.

In the league cup, second round the Blues progressed after again coming from 2-0 behind against Stadium FC. A Jordan Armstrong double and a cracker from Jamie Farthing gave them a 3-2 win. Fine performances from the consistent Daniel Walker and Michael Macellaro were the pick of the team.

In girls football the Under-10s put in an improved performance, even though they lost 6-3 to Ferryhill. Bethany Allison shone for the Consett girls by hitting all three goals and working hard for the team.

The Under-12s lost 3-0 to Norton and Stockton, Sarah Riddell's performance was well worth the girl of the match award.

The Under-14s won 5-0 against Bowburn with two goals from Kelly Christer and Rosie Hague with girl of the match Charlotte Brown hitting number five.

Waldridge Park

IN a resolute performance against a top-of-the-table team, Waldridge's Under-8s Development team ran out 1-0 winners against Houghton Boys.

Waldridge's defence soaked up the majority of Houghton's first half pressure. Keeper Thomas Cullen made some outstanding saves, keeping his team in the game at half time and earning him the Player of the Match award.

Waldridge were a more determined outfit in the second half and got all three points after good attacking pressure led to a cross from the right which was converted from close range by Sarah Hutchieson.

In their second game Waldridge Park lost 3-1 to Swallwell Swifts. Waldridge were 1-0 up at half time, a Swallwell own goal coming directly from an excellent corner delivered by Connor Clark. The second half belonged to Swallwell's Callum Mallaburn who scored a hat trick amongst some lacklusture defending by the Waldridge back line. Player of the match for Waldridge awarded to Connor Clark.

An excellent display by Waldridge Park Under-9s against the League leaders Washington Boys was not enough to take the points as they lost 2-1. Constant first half pressure by Waldridge failed to find any goals. Washington scored two well struck goals however the Under-9s continued to play well with Ben Bainbridge hitting the woodwork twice. Jordan Turnbull finally got a goal for Waldridge, scored from the edge of the box. Despite further pressure Washington managed to hang on for the points. Man of the match was Bradley Short.

Waldridge Park Under-11 Reds lost 8-1 at Sunderland Sporting Nissan. Poor tackling and individual mistakes in the first half were the downfall for the Reds. The second half was much better as all the midfield played well, creating chances, especially Andrew Sill and man of he match Matthew Middlemas who scored another great individual goal.

Waldridge Park Under-13s got back to wining ways with a very good victory over St Josephs. Waldridge started well and scored early on with a goal from Elliott Clark. Waldridge missed a host of chances in the first half and suffered when St Josephs scored an equaliser just before the break.

The second half started with Waldridge pressing and dominating the play which resulted in the lead being regained with a second for Elliott Clark. The pressure was kept on the away side and a good break allowed James Armstrong to slot home. A very late goal by leading scorer Jonny Dobson made the final score 4-1. Man of the match was Liam Pearson.

Waldridge Park Under-15 Whites progressed to the next round of the League Cup with an after extra time 3-1 win at East Boldon Wanderers.

The home side took an early lead but this was cancelled out just before the break when Anth Ward scrambled the ball over the line following a corner.

The second half saw pressure on the Whites however, keeper Joe Thompson was in good form, pulling off several saves to keep them in the game. The tie went into extra time and Michael Weston was Waldridge's hero by scoring twice. The first was a 35-yard shot and the second a low shot into the corner of the net. Man of the match was Grant Boyd.

Waldridge Park Under-16s entertained Durham City at home in a League Cup game. In a below par performance Waldridge fell behind to two first half Durham goals. Waldridge did pull a goal back with a well-taken goal from Andrew Fluke who also hit the post in the last minute of the half. Waldridge had further chances before they fell further behind to Durham. Campbell Bell pulled another goal back to give Waldridge some hope, however Durham scored again to make it through to the next round. Final score was 4-2. Man of the match was Mark Howard.

Waldridge Park Under-17s were made to rue missed chances as they exited the U18 County Cup losing 2-1 at South Tyneside Under-18s. The missed chances were mainly in the first half when four clear opportunities went begging. Jamie Nixon scored a consolation goal ten minutes from time. Man of the match was William Fletcher.

The Under-21s were winners for the second week running at Jarrow FC with a fine 4-2 win. The first goal was route one with striker Chris Days getting on the end of a long kick from keeper James Moss and beating the keeper with a great finish. Anthony Davison then scored with an excellent strike which left the keeper no chance to make it 2-0 at half time.

In the second half the home side pressured and defensive lapses allowed two goals to be conceded and the scores levelled. The lead was restored when a clearance by the home keeper was hit first time from about 35 yards by winger Phil Dobbing and hit the net with the keeper stranded. The scoring was wrapped up when man of the match Chris Bennett chipped the keeper from 20 yards in the closing stages.

Bowburn Youth

Bowburn's youngest teams had a successful weekend in the Russell Foster League. The Under-8s Development side picked up three points in their game against Sunderland Inter Nissan with two more goals from Russell Bradley.

In the Under-8s Yellow League Bowburn played their best game of the season against Willington Whites with goals from Callum Forster and a brace from Callum Smith.

The Under-9s also played their best football of the season against Shotton Sharks, Bowburn dominated the game but in the last minute Shotton scored the only goal of the game.

* Bowburn Youth are looking to recruit players for next season's Under-15s League. Training will start soon and players will need to be in this school year's eight and nine.

The club are also hoping to strengthen the Under-11s Boys team. Players should be in year six this school year.
