Norton and Stockton Ancients

There was a comfortable victory for Ancients against Washington Under-14s. Callum Hassan opened the scoring with a neat finish after ten minutes and then Washington went down to ten men when Liam Beadnall slotted home a penalty.

James Cass, introduced just before half time, made it 3-0 and the second half saw Ancients play some lovely football with Josh Sutcliffe the pick of the midfield. Tom Hinchley made it four and James Cass completed a hat-trick to complete a 6-0 victory.

A testing game for Norton Under-13s against Hartlepool but they created plenty of chances early on. They went 1-0 up at half-time after a cross from Jack Alexander was controlled neatly by Ryan Watson and struck low into the bottom corner. Hartlepool managed to draw level in the second half but a left foot volley from Watson and a cool finish from talented new boy Dale Evans settled the jitters and earned a Norton victory.

Norton Under-10 B's played Spraire Lads and expected to win with Jamie Graham opening up the scoring with a well-taken left foot strike. He soon added another with a 20-yard free kick and after the break Jordan Ormerod finished in spectacular style, beating the keeper with a 25-yard effort. Spraire pulled one back to finish the game 3-1. Man of the match was Harry Tomlinson.

Greatham scored first but Norton Under-8s pressed forward and a fine goal from Joseph McCluskey boosted Norton who looked as though they could go on to win. Greatham upped their game and Norton's man of the match Lewis McDonald kept them at bay with some excellent goalkeeping until Norton's concentration lapsed and Greatham scored two quick goals.

Norton Under-10s played Leven and in an even first half Leven took the lead from a free kick. Norton made changes at half time but before they had chance to settle Leven had scored two quick goals to finish as 3-0 winners.

NASA Under-14 Girls conceded a goal in each half of a bruising confrontation with Durham City Youth but lacked the firepower in front of goal to gain any foothold in the game.

Durham County

Durham County football had mixed fortunes this weekend in the Russell Foster Youth League with their small sided teams finding the going through. Only Under-10s' Premier League star Aiden Brown grabbed any accolades as he hit his fourth goal of the season and took the man of the match award as well as a 20 yard Roberto Carlos-style screamer in a 1-1 draw with Redby.

In 11-a-side football Durham County Under-12s continued their winning form with a deserved victory over Washington United in very difficult conditions.

Declan Lavery scored a brace early in the first-half to put County in control and Durham increased their lead when Jack Tate scored direct from a 25 yard free kick before the interval.

County continued to create lots of chances in the second half but were unable to convert them before they conceded a late goal and then their defence and midfield held strong to ensure another excellent result.

County Under-12s Cougars took an early lead in a local derby match against rivals City of Durham following a superb through-ball from debutant Jake Cairns to Richard Brewster, who subsequently raced clear to run around the keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net before City of Durham struck with an equaliser mid way through the half.

In the second half Robert Ward went on a mazy run getting to the by line to square the ball for Philip Kneale who then cleverly sliced the ball home along the goal from close range for a 2-1 lead.

The match was ultimately decided with a great passing move resulting in Tom Pryde slotting home from the edge of the box to enable the Cougars to secure all 3 points in a fine 3-1 win.

Ferryhill Town Youth

Ferryhill's Under-18s, sponsored by Durham County Foundation, played at Seaton Carew at the weekend, and got off to a flying start with Luke Storey scoring after just seven seconds.

Ferryhill dominated the game and soon Kieran Liddle made it 2-0 before Reece Bell cut inside to score the third.

Reece scored once again and shortly afterwards Luke Storey got the ball and put it in the back of the net. Two minutes later Luke once again got onto the end of the ball to complete his hat trick just before to make it 6-0 at half-time.

In the second half once again Luke Storey scored before Reece Bell completed his hat trick. Seaton hit back with a consolation goal but sub Ben Lambert came on scored his second ever goal for Ferryhill since his transfer then Ryan Wilkinson made an excellent run down the right wing then cut in along the bye line to slot the ball in between the post and the Seaton keeper.

Just before the final whistle Kieran Liddle grabbed his second to leave the final score Seaton Carew 1, Ferryhill 11. Man of the match went to Kieran Liddle.

The Under-8s, sponsored by JR Tool Hire and Aggregates, played at Barnard Castle and suffered an 8-0 defeat. Sam Etherington and Jordon Longstaff were joint man of the match. The friendly game resulted in a 6-1 defeat with Brodie Grayson being the scorer and receiving player of match.

Ferryhill Under-9s, sponsored by Kelly news, played Fishburn Boys and attacked from the start but were denied by the woodwork and some good saves by the keeper. The pressure finally paid off after some neat footwork by Alex Quinn before shooting home from 25 yards.

The second half was much the same as the first but Ferryhill were unable to build on their lead and the game finished 1-0 to Ferryhill. Nathan Wilson was man of the match.

The friendly was end-to-end in the first half with Ferryhill scoring through Lewis Topping. In the second half Fishburn took control and ran out 4-1 winners. Kaylan Jackson was man of the match.

Ferryhill Under-10s, sponsored by Joe's Diner, played St Mary's B away with the opening goal coming from Ferryhill's Nathan Wall in the third minute shortly followed by a goal from Rhys Todd.

In the second half St. Mary's came out stronger and managed to pull a goal back but Ferryhill's Rhys Todd scored their third goal followed by a goal from Aiden O'Connor a minute later. The final score was 4-1 to Ferryhill with Rhys Todd man of the match.

In the friendly St Mary's took the lead but Ferryhill came back with goals from Scott Tweedy and Joe Snaith. St Mary's then equalised but this did not put Ferryhill off and scored another two goals from Carlos Nicholson Plaza and Keiran McCormack. The final score was 4-2 to Ferryhill. Man of the match was Daniel Barber.

Ferryhill Town Youth Under-10 girls played Consett away and 15 minutes in Consett scored their first goal followed by Drew Seymour levelling for Ferryhill followed by another quick goal from Drew Seymour making it 2-1.

In the second half Consett came back to score again but Ferryhill kept going with Drew Seymour scoring another three goals followed by Consett scoring another goal. Full time score was Ferryhill 5 Consett 3. Girl of the match went to Drew Seymour.

Ferryhill Under-11s, sponsored by Paterson Windows, were at home to 21 All Stars on Sunday and the heavy defeat of the previous Sunday was forgotten from the kick off when Marcus Brown broke through to set up Callum Johnson for the opener after 30 seconds.

This set the tone and goals from Marcus Brown (2), Jonathan Laidler (2) and Nathan Carr saw the home side 6-0 up at half time. Ferryhill continued to dominate in the second half with Laidler being denied a hat trick by the post and Robinson having a goal disallowed for offside. Callum Walton found the net twice in the second half while All Stars managed to grab a consolation meaning the final score was 8-1. Man of the match for Ferryhill could not be decided so was awarded to the whole team for a very strong performance.

Ferryhill Under-12s, sponsored by DAAC, were at league leaders Richmond Town FC and from the whistle Ferryhill were on the attack. Kieran Harnett opened the scoring for Ferryhill after ten minutes with Christopher Devine getting one soon after. Richmond came back strongly and it was not long before they went 3-2 ahead but in the last minute of the first half Devine took advantage of a fumble in front of the Richmond goal to make the score equal before the whistle.

The second half started just as the first with Ferryhill playing great football, seeing David Gibson hitting the post minutes into the game. Callum West and Kurt Seymour scored within minutes of each other to put Ferryhill ahead again. Although great work from both the Ferryhill defence and midfield, Richmond hit back again to pull it back to 5-4. The last few minutes saw some great end-to-end football from both sides. Devine got his hat-trick for Ferryhill with a well-placed shot but Richmond responded again, taking advantage of a fumble in the Ferryhill defence. The final score was 6-5 to Ferryhill with man of the match going to Kurt Seymour.

The Under-14s played Catterick at home this week but after creating some good chances, Ferryhill were 2-0 down at half time. Catterick went on to score two more before Aaron Jones scored Ferryhill's only goal. Catterick went on to win 5-1 and man of the match was Matthew Barron.

Teesside Athletic

The Under-10 Bs beat local rivals Redcar Town 2-1 away. The derby was a passionate affair that saw Redcar take a lead which they retained to half time.

Teesside equalised with a penalty when the ever-confident James Cawley stepped up and stroked the ball home. Nathan Huston scored the winner after a Liam Hall free kick could only be parried by the keeper, giving Teesside the bragging rights.

The Under-10 As beat last season's champions Cleveland Juniors 2-1 in a wind-affected game.

Teesside took a two-goal lead through Seaman and Roberts with punishing set pieces. They then held firm in the second period until very late on when Cleveland got their consolation goal.
