ANGLERS will be seeking to land a cash prize in an open competition this weekend.
The Clean Catch Open, which has been organised by Easington District Council's Coastal Ranger Service, will take place on Sunday.
Anglers can choose their spots anywhere along the Durham Heritage Coast, from Ryhope Dene to Crimdon Dene, but Seaham South Pier and associated port areas will be out of bounds.
Competitors will be angling to win a first prize of £500, with £300 for second place and £100 for third. There will also be £50 prizes for the heaviest fish in the women's, junior and disabled categories.
The entrance fee is £8 for men and £5 for women, juniors and disabled competitors. All proceeds go to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Registration will take place in Seaham's South Terrace, from 10am until noon, with a weigh-in from 5pm to 6.30pm.
