A HOTEL owner is staging an exhibition of quilts.

The Amish quilts were bought by Barbara-Anne Johnson, who spent seven years working in the US in Michigan, where there is a large Amish community.

They will be on display on Sunday, at the Morritt Arms Hotel, near Barnard Castle.

The exhibition will also highlight the work of Lone Grinter, whose father was costume master for the Royal Danish Ballet, and who produces textile designs for hotels and country houses.

During the exhibition, from 11am to 4pm, she will demonstrate her methods.

There will also be a pole lathe turning demonstration by furniture maker Chris Helliwell. Admission is free, but donations can be made to Brignall Parish Church.
