A TEENAGER has been jailed for three years after admitting causing the death of a nine-year old boy by dangerous driving.

Brandon Maggs died after being hit by a car driven by James Mitchell Burns, 19, while he was out playing on his scooter near his home, in Roundhill Avenue, Ingleby Barwick, in July.

The child was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital by the Great North Air Ambulance, but died a few hours later.

Burns, of Ashton Road, Norton, Stockton pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving at Teesside Crown Court.

He was driving at 51mph in a 30mph zone while delivering pizzas.
