Five people were taken to hospital tonight after an accident involving three vehicles at Tanfield Lea, near Stanley.
Emergency services responded to reports of people trapped at 5.48pm outside Tanfield Lea South industrial estate.
Police and ambulance attended along with two fire crews from High Handenhold, one from Consett and a special rescue unit from Bishop Auckland.
The injured were taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Durham. No further details are available
