A MOUNTAIN rescue team have found a man today who has been missing for over 40 hours.
The 64-year-old from Kelloe, County Durham was last seen walking out of the University Hospital of North Durham around 8pm on Wednesday.
Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team Team Duty Controller John Little said: "We were called out by Durham Police on Thursday evening to search in the area of the hospital.
"Twelve of our team members and three mountain rescue search dogs searched until nearly midnight, but found no sign of the missing gentleman.
"The weather last night was not good with strong winds and driving rain.
"We recommenced the search this morning and one of our search groups found the man in dense woodland near the DLI museum around lunchtime. We treated him for hypothermia while we waited for a paramedic to attend.
"We then put him on our stretcher and carried him out to a waiting ambulance."
