A TOP Thai boxing champion gave a motivational talk to young cheerleaders at their school.
From 2006 to 2008 Rachael MacKenzie was British and European champion and ranked number one in the world at her sport. She was also the first woman to fight traditional bare knuckle Muay Boran.
Yesterday, she was at Stokesley School, in North Yorkshire, to give a talk to its cheerleaders before leading a practical session.
Her visit is part of Sky Living For Sport’s mentoring programme, which uses sport to motivate and inspire youngsters in all aspects of their life.
Stokesley School’s sports co-ordinator, Jill Norman, said: “It’s gone well. It’s been a really valuable talk and we are very grateful for her coming to inspire them and show how hard work can lead to success.”
The cheerleading club was formed six months ago.
It was created to offer an alternative to other sports.
The girls aim to enter competitions and take part in displays.
