A MUSEUM is offering locomotive fans a competition prize money cannot buy.

The National Railway Museum is offering two tickets to ride in a carriage pulled by the iconic Flying Scotsman locomotive following her restoration.

To win, fans must create their own Flying Scotsman.

Louise Lancaster, owner of Heaven Scent Florists, in York, made a floral model of the locomotive for the competition launch.

Helen Ashby, from the museum, said: “This is about giving everyone, young and old, the chance to win this once-in-a lifetime prize.”

The models must be no more than 120cm long, 60cm wide and 40cm high.

Entries must be received by April 28 and be accompanied by an entry form from nrm.org.uk/scots mancomp, and sent to Flying Scotsman Model Competition, National Railway Museum, Leeman Road, York, YO26 4XJ.

A shortlist of the best models will be exhibited at the museum, where visitors can vote for a winner. Votes can also be cast on the museum’s website. The winner, who will be announced in June, will also receive a Hornby Flying Scotsman train set.
