ON behalf of Jake can I express my sincere thanks for the way in which everyone at Hartlepool United welcomed him, accommodated him and looked after him while he was there on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

Without doubt, his time there gave him the opportunity to develop and progress as a young player.

Being able to settle so quickly was of great benefit to him and within days we could tell he was extremely happy. He made mention of the spirit within the club and team and was genuinely delighted to be at Hartlepool. He is also genuinely disappointed to leave. Having attended the games and stayed in the town I can also say it has been an absolute pleasure.

The way the fans took to him has made it all a fantastic experience.

Special mention needs to go to Gary Walsh and Mick Wadsworth. Even though Gary knew Jake from his time at Derby, bringing a 19- year-old goalkeeper in could have been seen as a gamble.

To then have the resolve to play him due to the injury to Scott Flinders was a big step. Thanks to them both for giving Jake the chance that can mean so much.

We wish everyone at Hartlepool all the best for the rest of this and every season and hope to come back one day to revisit.

Rest assured, Pools’ result will be the first one I look for because I know how much Jake’s time at Hartlepool has meant and done for him.
