MARGARET METCALFE is looking for information regarding one of her ancestor's role as a policeman.
He was Zacharia John Connell, born in 1826, in Shilbottle, the son of Irishman John Connell.
According to the 1851 census, he was a police sergeant living in School Row, Berry Edge, now Consett. Ten years later, he lived in London.
