A BROMPTON councillor is trying to track down old school friends to help her commemorate her class's 40-year reunion next year.

Barbara Slater, nee Rogan, and her friend, Janet Burton, formerly Robinson, decided that because next year marks 40 years since they left Allertonshire Girls School, in Northallerton, it would be nice to get former classmates together to help them celebrate.

"Janet and I were friends at school and we were just chatting about it. She said a few people had mentioned the idea of a reunion to her," said Mrs Slater.

"Next year, it will be 40 years since we left school and we are hoping people will turn up for a drink on that day so we can organise something bigger for next year."

Mrs Slater, a parish councillor since 1983, and Mrs Burton are looking for anyone who left the school in 1967. They can meet for a drink and a meal at the Village Inn, Brompton on August 24, at 7pm.

Anyone who attended the school from 1963 to 1967 and was in forms A, B, or C is welcome.
