POLICE are appealing for help in tracing a man they want to question in connection with a late-night burglary at a charity shop.

On Sunday, April 9, someone broke into the Alzheimer's Society charity shop, in Consett, at about 11.40pm.

The burglar entered through the back door of the premises, in Trafalgar Street, and searched the offices, breaking into desks and lockers.

Almost £250 was stolen in the burglary, and about £300 worth of damage was done to property.

Police have now released CCTV pictures of a man thought to be in his 20s, who was seen near the shop at the time of the break-in.

The man, who was of medium build and about 5ft 10in, had ginger hair, which was shaven at the back and sides.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark blue or black top with brown collar and dark blue Adidas track suit bottoms, with three white stripes down the outside of each leg.

Anyone with information which could help police is asked to ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
