QUESTION
My cat developed breathing problems about 10 months ago, sounding like he had a blocked nose. It steadily got worse with him breathing very noisily and his sides heaving. He was put on anti-inflamatory tablets but this was not a success as it is very difficult to get a tablet down him. He has had x-rays and specialist vet did endyscope test only showing nostrils to be oval, not round and slight inflamation at the back.
He now has a problem with his tummy as he is taking in air when breathing (his tummy is very noisy at times) which in turn often makes him sick. He is now on food for sensitive tummies which is undone when he catches a mouse/bird and eats it. He has got so thin that I am desperate before he looses his strength to try and find a solution to his problem. He is fine in himself but this cannot continue with him losing so much weight. My vet has tried but cannot find a solution. Please help if you can.

ANSWER
Dear Margaret
First I would suggest blood and urine tests to look at blood cells, biochemistry for liver, kidney function, diabetes etc and also thyroid function tests. It's probably worth having abdominal and chest xrays done.
