QUESTION

At what age can my kitten be let out by himself?
Corinne Goater

ANSWER

It is normally safe to let kittens out about 1 week after their final vaccination.

This way they are protected against infectious diseases from other cats. You must make sure the kitten is aware of his home i.e. such that if he wanders off he knows where to come back to.

It is normally best if you let him wander around in the garden whilst you are still present.

Also, let him out for the first time when he is really hungry- that way he's sure to come back home for food!
