Oxbridge Darlington and District League: MIDDLETON St George are still out in front in Division A following a five wickets victory over Rockliffe Park.

When they batted first the visitors ended on 131 all out which included 56 by Swanwick. Rogers had a good day with the ball for Middleton claiming six wickets for 73 runs.

Bainbridge then top scored with 31 as the leaders replied with 121 for five.

Barton are second but they suffered a setback when they lost by one run to Cockerton. Leafe added 35 to the visitors' total of 141 all out with Bell taking five for 32 and Shoulder four for 42. In response Barton ended on 140 for nine of which Murray top scored with 32. Farrow and Glew both took three wickets for Cockerton.

Aldbrough St John dismissed Lands for just 105 with Norman Brannen capturing four wickets for 40 runs in 18 overs and Desmond Wood four for 13 from the 4.5 overs he delivered.

Despite facing a modest target, Aldbrough St John lost seven wickets before securing victory in the 26th over. Their top performer with the bat was Simon Law with 30. Robert Little took three wickets for 33 runs and his son Mark three for 23 in the Lands attack.

Witton-le-Wear were dismissed for 91 at home to Ingleton for whom Dent had the excellent figures of six for 27. When they made first use of the wicket Ingleton posted 136 all out with Howard contributing a half-century. Jones and Ingram both took four wickets for Witton.

Barningham lost just three wickets making 183 at home to Heighington. Newton and French both scored half-centuries and Mossford 47.

In reply Heighington were dismissed for 136 as Foster took eight wickets for 64 runs.

Spennithorne and Harmby had 38 runs to spare over Raby Castle. C Mawer was unbeaten on 41 in a total of 167 for six before Raby Castle were sent back for 129, which included 47 by Wilson and 30 from Townsend. Gilder was in top form with the ball for Spennithorne returning the excellent figures of five for 32.

In Division B Brompton on Swale are ahead following their 49 runs victory at Dales where they ended on 158 for seven. Dale top scored with 62 and Stabler ended unbeaten on 41 while for Dales Hollingsworth and Simpson both took three wickets.

When they went to the wicket Dales were pegged to 119 for nine as Felstead and McGough shared six wickets.

Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill are second and they defeated Haughton by three wickets in a low scoring game. Strong took five for 20 and Owens four for 46 when Haughton managed only 76 before Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill won losing seven wickets, four of them to Wilkinson at an economical cost of 17 runs.

East Cowton overtook the Spennymoor total of 112, which took 26 overs to compile, by nine wickets.

McGough top scored with 31 for Spennymoor as Brian Tucker returned five for 50 in 13 overs and Andrew Whitfield four for 50 from the 13 overs he delivered.

Responding East Cowton replied with 116 for one from 23 overs. Man of the match Brian Tucker ended unbeaten on 48 hitting one six and seven boundaries while Neil Whelpton batted throughout for an undefeated 43 which included six fours.

Middleton-in-Teesdale managed only 81 as Raby returned the excellent analysis of six for 22. Rockliffe Park then conceded six wickets, three of them to Watson, before securing victory and they were indebted to Allenby who ended undefeated on 46.

Curry had four wickets for four runs and Bowes three for 26 when Heighington were sent back for only 108 replying to the Cliffe total of 154 for seven, which included 41 from Rogerson and 43 from Curry. Knights added a useful 38 and for Heighington Gibson took four wickets at a cost of 54 runs.

Barton edged Trimdon CCA by 16 runs. Kearney top scored with 33 in the visitors' total of 131 with Carter returning four for 19 and Watchman three for 42 for Trimdon CCA, who were all out for 115, which included 35 by Peat. Walsh had five for 32 and Miller four for 67 in the Barton attack.

In Division C Haughton made 229 for nine but still lost by three wickets to Cockerton. Pratt top scored with 51 for Haughton with Tomlin and Simpson both scoring 41 in Cockerton's match winning reply of 234 for seven.

Hill (66) and Oughton (47) led King James to a match winning 173 for seven against Raby Castle who were all out for 91 with Holliday taking four for 19.

Flint (66) and Kemp (48) enabled Trimdon CCA to post 218 for eight in their game with Cliffe, who were all out for 69 as Owen captured five wickets for 17 runs.

Aldbrough St John managed only 40 all out with Cummins taking four for ten and Simpson five for 29 for Lands, who batted first and totalled 120.

Middleton Tyas defeated Eryholme by 58 runs. Batting first they made 145 which included 46 by Morgan and 35 from Williams, while for Eryholme Walker returned a splendid analysis of seven for 36.

Replying Eryholme were dismissed for 87 which included 32 from Warne. Hirst had five wickets for 17 runs and Rummel four for 20 in the Middleton Tyas attack.

Surridge Sports Durham Coast League

Under 18s

THE programme was badly affected by the weather but Houghton managed to complete their fixture at Boldon CA only to lose by 75 runs.

When they batted first Boldon CA posted 110-5, which included an unbeaten 30 by Stuart Johnson. McCoy bowled a good end for the visitors claiming three of the five wickets to fall for just 27 runs.

Houghton though were then all out for just 35 and more than half the total came from McCoy who contributed 18. Michael Shepherd was in excellent form with the ball for Boldon taking five wickets for a mere 12 runs.

Bill Quay were 22 without loss when their game with Dawdon had to be abandoned. Craig Stevenson (34 not out) and Michael Appleby with 35 enabled Dawdon to total 99-1. Scott Cahill was also among the runs for Dawdon ending undefeated on 21.

Surridge Sports Durham Coast League

Under 15s

SEAHAM Park were all out for just 61 when they entertained Castle Eden for whom Bailey took four wickets for just 12 runs. Kelly captured a couple of wickets at a cost of two runs and Dunn returned equally impressive figures of 2-8. Nick Milburn top-scored with 22 in the Seaham innings.

Replying, Castle Eden won with six wickets remaining. Ross Curtley top scored with 29 while in the Park attack, Jack Moorhead had two wickets for 16 runs.

Washington restricted Boldon CA to just 80 but then managed only 59-7 in response. Smith was the Boldon top scorer with 22 and in the Washington attack none did better than Sam Witherspoon with four wickets for ten runs. Mathew Marshall had an analysis of 2-17 and Andrew Ebdale 2-18.

When they went to the wicket Washington struggled to 59 losing seven wickets, three of them to Beadle for four runs and another three to Purvis who conceded 19 runs.

Joe Thompson made the game's top score of 25 batting for Washington.

Bob Hay Cup

BISHOP Auckland progressed in the Bob Hay Junior Cup with a 23-run victory over Tudhoe. Michael Cowling had six boundaries in 33, Scott Oldfield had three fours out of 36 not out and Tate added 20 not out to the Bishops total of 93-2.

Replying, Tudhoe managed only 70 as Cowling captured three wickets for 11 runs in five overs and Ian Grainger also took three wickets at a cost of 17 runs from the 3.3 overs he delivered.

Esh Winning also progressed into the next round with a decisive victory over Mainsforth. Batting first, Esh realised the formidable total of 163-3 as Jonathan Roshford and Stephen Jackson were again in excellent form.

Roshford hit a six and 13 boundaries in his superb unbeaten 80 and Jackson was equally effective contributing two sixes and five fours to his total of 54.

Tom Orton had two wickets for 28 runs in five overs before hitting an unbeaten 67 with one six and seven boundaries when Mainsforth responded with a 104-3. Michael Oughton captured two of the three wickets to go down for 19 runs in four overs.

Justsport Under 15 Inter-League Cup

THE Readers Durham County League defeated the Fosters Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League by seven wickets when they met at Etherley.

Batting first, the visitors realised 126-8 which included 25 apiece by Allan and Gohery while Green contributed 24. Responding, the County League lost just three wickets as Man of the Match Hodgson hit a superb unbeaten 68 and Nash added 21. Clennell was the most successful bowler in the N&T attack with figures of 2-32.

Glenn Robinson Memorial Trophy

SEAHAM Park bowed out of the competition when they went down by nine wickets to Boldon from the Fosters Durham Senior League.

The Surridge Sport Durham Coast League team realised 90-5 when they made first use of the wicket. Nick Milburn was in excellent form ending unbeaten on 47 and for Boldon, Matthew Sampson-Barnes took two wickets for only 17 runs in an economical four over spell.

Nick Jones then hit an unbeaten 54 and Sampson-Barnes 23 not out as the pair put together a match-winning unbroken second wicket partnership for Boldon.

Fosters Durham Senior League

Under-18s

IN a rearranged fixture postponed from earlier in the season, Boldon had just nine runs to spare at home to Felling.

Runs down the order enabled the home team to total 112-7 with Falconer capturing three wickets for only 15 runs in six overs for Felling.

Although the Tynesiders went close, Boldon held out as Anthony Brown claimed five wickets for a meagre 11 runs in six impressive overs.

Under 15 Tour

TYNEMOUTH again toured the Midlands for their annual week away but they had bad luck with the weather.

One game was completed at Kenilworth who defeated the North-East side by four wickets. Ryan Carr top scored with 64 and David Hymers contributed 33 to the Tynemouth total of 192-8 declared before Kenilworth replied with 194-6.

The rain was the only winner at Leamington Spa who were 139 without loss when the weather intervened. Batting first, Tynemouth ended on 254-1 declared. Daniel Young retired on 100, Scott Thornton made 65 not out, Lewis Robson 36 and Neil Sturrock 29.

Tynemouth then played at Walsall where they lost by three wickets. Hymers made 21 and Young 31 to a total of 143 all out before Walsall responded with 147-7. Hymers had two wickets for 27 runs and Sample 2-26 for Tynemouth.

Lingarde Junior Cup Semi-Final

ASHINGTON reached the final with an eight wickets victory at Tynedale where they reduced the home side to 79-7 which included a top-scoring 20 by Joe Barber. Tiffin captured four wickets for just 15 runs before Straker with 27 and Wood (21) swept Ashington to victory for the loss of just two wickets.

Fosters Tyneside Senior League

Under-18s

BURNHOPEFIELD had 89 runs in hand of Ryton when they totalled 186 for the loss of just three wickets. Stephen Allan hammered six sixes and seven boundaries in 74 and Michael Ashburn also recorded six sixes in an undefeated 77.

In response, Ryton were all out for 97 with no fewer than 62 of the total coming from Lewis Barr. He had three sixes and six fours in his innings.

Anthony Dawson bowled an excellent 2.1 overs for Burnhopefield capturing four wickets for just nine runs and Kristian Thompson had an analysis of 3-24 from his five over stint.

North-East Midweek League

ROWLANDS CA have retained the League Championship with the battle now on between Kirkwood and Nine Pins for the runners-up spot.

Rowlands CA's 115-3 made it safe when they came up against Old Record Players and secured a seven wickets win.

James Davidson 58 not out and John McCreedie 43, top scored after ORP had earlier made 111-5 with Andy Horner top scoring on 31 and Bob Chapman chipping in with an unbeaten 26.

In the battle of the second and third sides, Nine Pins came out on top and now only trail Kirkwood by one point.

Nine Pins were seven wickets winners with Matt Milton 87 not out as they chased down Kirkwood's 149-6.

In Division Two, Gateshead Fell Cavaliers are almost home and dry following another success - this time against Coquet who they beat by seven wickets.

The Cavaliers reached 116-3 with Fred Middlemiss scoring 53 and Andrew Porter 35 not out after Coquet had made 113-4.

It was not all bad news for Coquet who went on to beat Civil Service by six wickets inspired by Ivan Todd 45 not out and 27 from Paul Chapman.

This was in reply to the Civil Service knock of 102-6 which produced 33 from John Ferguson.

Third Division leaders Beamish topped the 100 points mark after accounting for their closest rivals Cumberland Partners who they now lead by 17 points.

Beamish managed 93-4 thanks to 24 from man of the match Anthony Ward, Paul Lumley 22 and Gary Johnson 21 while Cumberland Partners could only make 68-5 with Lumley and Johnson both claiming two wickets.
