THE Spennymoor Sunday League launched their new initiative this summer to encourage good administrative housekeeping among clubs.

The league produced a set of folders, complete with the league crest printed on the cover, along with the new-look handbooks for the 2006/07 season, for every club.

The folders contained all the relevant administration forms required for the season, while the new handbooks, a complete league and club directory, are combined with a week-to-page diary.

And each clubs has also received two new league pens - again, complete with league crest - to help clubs keep on top of their paperwork!

League treasurer Gary Livett is pictured presenting the new administration pack to some of the league members.

"We decided to use this new initiative to try to encourage better housekeeping among members," explained Livett.

"Most clubs are well tuned and well organised, but we've supplied all members with everything they will need to keep on top of all their league administration throughout the season, so there are now no excuses!"

Meanwhile, two clubs from the league have joined forces to raise money for charity in the name of a late player.

Croxdale WMC have joined up with Tudhoe United to launch the inaugural Kelvin McIntosh Charity Shield.

The match, named after the sad and untimely death of Kelvin McIntosh on the football field in February last year, will raise much-needed funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

And organisers hope it will be the first match of what will eventually be an annual event.

The first half of the game, to be played at Croxdale on Sunday (August 13, kick-off 10.30am), will consist of a fun, over-40s match, with the second half promising to be a more competitive clash between Tudhoe and Croxdale.

Organisers will then host two bands - The Modes and The Freys - in Croxdale WMC from 2pm(£5 entry), while a raffle with some fantastic prizes will also help to raise cash.

"A lot of hard work has already gone in to this," said Craig Fish, manager of the Croxdale team and one of Kelvin's many long-time friends. "James Curley from Tudhoe has done a lot of work, while Pauline Henderson and Judith McIntosh, Kelvin's Mum, have organised the raffle.

"We'd also like to thank Andrew Thompson, area manager for the Co-op, who has donated a whole range of prizes for the raffle, together with everyone else who have donated prizes.

"Now all we need is everyone to come along to support the event so we can raise as much money as possible for what is a very worthy cause."
