MILITARY students have achieved the best set of marks ever recorded by the Army Foundation College since it moved.

The latest intake of soldiers at Harrogate, North Yorkshire, gained a 100 per cent pass rate in the level two diploma for IT users.

There was also a pass mark of 89.7 per cent in the level two qualification in application of number and communication skills exams.

Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Steve O’Cock said: “Today is a proud day for our graduating junior soldiers as well as for all of their military and civilian staff.

“Their year at Harrogate will have tested them physically and mentally, stretched them to new limits and greatly enhanced their talents and abilities. They have worked hard and fully deserve the outstanding education results.

“They now can look forward to a full and rewarding career, following in the illustrious footsteps of the thousands of soldiers who have previously passed out of the Army Foundation College.”

The soldiers paraded at the college this week in front of Senior Army officer Major General Bill Moore.

The junior soldiers, aged 16 to 19, have undergone a 42- week course in military skills and will now receive specialist training in their chosen fields.

The college opened in 1998 and provides training for more than 1,300 junior soldiers taking in students twice a year.
