A CLIFFTOP family fun day takes place this weekend as part of a project to celebrate the region's coastal heritage.

The free event takes place at Nose's Point, Dawdon, near Seaham, County Durham, from noon to 4pm on Sunday.

Organised by the Nose's Point Gateway Project, families will have the chance to try their hand at creating 3D marine creatures, enjoy circus skills and take part in a countryside trail with prizes on offer.

The project, which is funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund and Countryside Agency, plans to improve pathways, information displays and natural habitats in the area, which is still recovering from its industrial past.

Visitors to Sunday's event will be able to see plans for the area's future and offer their own comments on the project's proposals.
