HARRY POTTERS and wannabe witches gathered to make potions and wands at a magical event.

A country park was awash with robes and cloaks for the Wizard and Witch day with 60 children at the event.

Wynyard Woodland Park, in Stockton, saw the youngsters making wands and bath salts potions. They also followed a map and used magic spells to find hidden eggs.

Countryside warden Ed Restall said the children were divided into three groups and collected points during the day of tasks.

"We mixed education with fun and the children learned about the moon and stars and how they look at this time of year.

"They all collected points and the winning team were handed prizes.

"All the youngsters went home with wizard and witch-themed sweets after a brilliant day.

"We even traced a special classic car, like the one in the Harry Potter book, and Don Mackenzie brought along his Anglia 105E model so the children could have pictures taken with it."

Also joining in the event was a barn owl from nearby Preston Park who was accompanied by a witch.
