YOUNG historians in Durham have a group that will help them investigate the secrets of the past.
The Clayport Clewers is the new name for all children's local history events held at the Clayport Library, in Millennium Place, Claypath, Durham.
The name has been taken from Clewerport, one of the names for Claypath in centuries past.
The Clayport Clewers hope to hold one event each month, with more activities organised during school holidays.
Local historian David Butler will help the group investigate the people who used to live and work in Durham by teaching them about the city's census on Sunday, August 20, from 1pm to 3pm.
The hands-on session is aimed at children aged eight to 11. Tickets cost £1 and can be booked by calling 0191-386 4003.
