ABOUT 60 North-East boxing fans were involved in a brawl which broke out after an organised fight at the weekend.
Police have condemned the violent scenes at Ferryhill Workingmen’s Club at about 3pm on Saturday, after the match.
One man was left with serious injuries including a broken ankle and detectives are investigating.
Inspector Bill Bentham said: “This incident is wholly unacceptable and was witnessed by members of the community who were Christmas shopping in the town.
“We will actively seek out those responsible and bring the offenders to justice.”
The Ferryhill neighbourhood police team is appealing for witnesses and has set up a confidential hotline on 01325- 742759.
Witnesses can also call police on 0345-60-60-365 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555-111.
