PLANS for a community garden in a Teesdale village have been given a boost with a £5,000 grant.
Evenwood and Ramshaw Community Centre Partnership hopes to design and build a garden at the newly refurbished Randolph Centre, in Evenwood.
The money, which will be match funded by the community group, was awarded by the Awards for All grant.
"We're obviously very pleased to have been awarded this money," said Evenwood and Ramshaw Community Centre Partnership treasurer Mary Prince.
"We are going to involve the young people of Evenwood and Ramshaw, to see what they want to put in the garden.
"There will be plants and shrubs, as well as possibly plenty of seating, but nothing has been decided for definite yet.
"This garden will be used by the whole community.
"We're getting together some time during the next fortnight to discuss things so we're hopeful that work can start on the site in the next month or six weeks."
The Randolph Centre underwent a £650,000 refurbishment last year and was opened to the public in December.
