A CHARITY event on Saturday is bringing together residents of a small County Durham village.
The event takes place on the green, outside the Punch Bowl pub, in Edmundbyers, from 2pm until midnight, and is raising money for cancer research.
On the programme are races, a tractor pull and an auction with donations including flights, champagne and the services of a decorator. There is also a nine-mile fancy dress run to Blanchland and back.
Pub landlord Mark Jennines said: "It has really brought together people from the village and the outlying communities.
"We chose a cancer charity because one of the village residents is suffering from it. It really has touched a lot of people. Northern Rock is matching pound for pound the money we make, so it should be worthwhile."
