A MAN faces jail after failing in a bid to have child pornography charges against him thrown out of court in what would have been a landmark ruling.

Sven Tudor-Miles said that images found on his computer were not of children as he had digitally-manipulated photos of adults to make them look younger.

His barrister, David Lamb, contested that his client had not committed an offence, even though he changed the size of the women's breasts and altered their genitalia.

Tudor-Miles, 38, also added school uniforms to some of the pictures he scanned from adult magazines.

A judge ruled against Mr Lamb during legal arguments yesterday, and Tudor-Miles admitted a series of charges.

The Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Peter Fox, granted him bail, but said: "You should be prepared, at least, for a prison sentence."

Tudor-Miles yesterday admitted five charges of attempting to make indecent pseudo-photographs of children between January 29 and February 10 this year.

He pleaded guilty to the possession of 29 indecent pseudo-photographs of children on February 9, and breaching the conditions of a sex offenders' order imposed in 2002.

Speaking after the hearing, forensic computer analyst Ray Savage said: "I've seen only two previous cases.

"To create an image of a child by altering an image of an adult is just as serious as downloading child porn, and probably more worrying in terms of the time taken and the work involved."

Tudor-Miles, of Bankfield Road, Eston, near Middlesbrough, will return to the court on September 8 to be sentenced.
