TODAY is D-Day for an old council office block.
A town hall report is recommending demolition of Middlesbrough Council's recently vacated Sandringham House.
Staff were moved out of the block to other offices as the result of a review of office space - and the building was earmarked for closure.
Councillor Nicky Walker, the council's executive member for resources, will decide today whether to go with the report, which recommends the building in Middlesbrough's Park End ward is bulldozed.
The report says: "The building is in a very poor state of repair in terms of the heating system and building fabric, and is subject to sustained vandalism.''
The document adds that early demolition of the building would give nearby residents peace from marauding vandals.
It states that the costs of providing security and an alarm system would not be economical compared to the £96,000 cost of demolition.
