GUIDED walks are being planned for people to hopfully enjoy a spell of summer sunshine.

Visitors can explore three green spaces, with the first at Billingham Ecology Park with the countryside ranger on Sunday, August 13, between 2pm and 3pm.

The short, one-mile stroll will feature many stops along the route with the ranger pointing out interesting plants and animals.

There will also be fun for the family on Monday, August 21, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, when rangers hold a family nature trail at Billingham Beck Valley Country Park.

The trail, which starts from the park's visitor centre, will help families to learn more about the wildlife living in the park.

On Sunday, September 3, from 1.30pm to 4pm, visitors can find out why different areas of Billingham Beck Valley are managed in different ways.

The Billingham rangers will lead visitors on a three-mile walk from one end of the park to the other, explaining how they look after it for the benefit of both wildlife and people.

Finally, visitors will be able to see out the summer on Sunday, September 10, with a circular walk around Stockton from 10am.

The 11-mile Summer's End Stroll starts from Preston Hall Museum and will take in Coatham, Burn Woods and The Teesdale Way.

Walkers will be able to enjoy the autumnal weather and see the seasonal changes in the natural environment and should go prepared for muddy paths and take a packed lunch.

The guided walks are free and participants should wear suitable walking footwear.
