AN initiative has been launched by Scarborough firefighters to keep youngsters busy during the summer holidays.
Play with Football Not with Fire has been organised in partnership with Scarborough Football Club and the East Riding County Football Association.
Firefighters will hold a football skills day tomorrow.
Watch manager Dave Pitt, of Scarborough Fire Station, said: "All coaches are Football Association qualified and we have some players from Scarborough's first team helping. We want to give local youngsters the chance to improve their football skills, learning from professionals.
"We welcome girls and boys to come along, it doesn't matter if you are a beginner, or more experienced, the day is suitable for all abilities."
The event, at the McCain Stadium, Seamer Road, Scarborough, runs from 10am to 3pm. It is open to children aged from six to 12 and costs £5, which goes to charity. Other free events taking place include a penalty shoot-out competition, fire engine, turntable ladder, chip pan fire demonstration, face painting and other fun activities.
To book, call Mr Pitt on (01723) 357790 or 07903 047229 or call at the fire station in North Marine Road, Scarborough.
