X FACTOR winner Joe McElderry was back in his home town yesterday for a signing session at a supermarket.
Hundreds of people queued in South Shields, South Tyneside, to meet Joe, who was promoting his album, Wide Awake.
Next month, Joe, who won the TV talent show last year, will entertain the crowds at an annual fireworks night.
He will perform his new single at the free event at the Riverside, in Stockton, on Friday, November 5.
The fireworks will be set off from 7.30pm, with a Bollywood theme and music from the film Slumdog Millionaire.
Real Radio will provide music from 6pm, with refreshments available.
The Millennium and Infinity footbridges will close at 7.20pm, about ten minutes before the display begins, and reopen as soon as possible after it finishes, at about 8pm.
The Riverside footbridge will close from 6pm to 8.30pm, and the Princess of Wales bridge from 10am to 10pm.
Roads in the North Shore area will close from 6pm to 10pm and Riverside Road from 6pm to 10pm.
