PLANS for a multi-million pound development at one of the region’s leading golf clubs have gone on display.

Wynyard Golf Club is inviting people to view the proposals for a 50 bedroom hotel, leisure facilities including tennis courts, a luxury spa, swimming pool, gymnasium, and restaurant.

In addition there will also be improvements to the clubhouse and championship golf course.

The plans went on display at the club yesterday as part of a two-day public consultation.

Stuart Monk, managing director of the Jomast Group of Companies which includes Wynyard Golf Club, said: “Obviously we will take in to account what people say.

“If lots of people suggest a similar thing then we will look at adding it in.

It is hoped the development will attract golf tourists, major tournaments and dozens of jobs to the region.

Plans for a golf resort on the site have been in the pipeline for more than 20 years. The plans are in The Wellington Suite at the club between 3pm and 7pm today.
