YOUNGSTERS from the region enlisted some professional help to produce an MTV-style music video.
Children and young people aged ten to 18 from Ferryhill, County Durham, were joined by TV’s Matt Mills, from Don’t Stop Believing, and Jonny Dixon, from Coronation Street, on Wednesday.
They worked on a music video, in Mainsforth Community Centre, Ferryhill, that will be shown online.
Many of the youngsters also attend the Ladder Centre, in Ferryhill, which won a national award for a video they made about knife crime.
Although the latest effort, in partnership with the Dance in Education organisation, has a more lighthearted theme, youth worker Kelly Holmes said the production was about more than just having fun.
Miss Holmes, part of Durham County Council’s Positive Activities for Young People team, said: “No one in the group is attending any singing or dancing coaching and they are being given an opportunity that’s usually only available in bigger towns or cities.
“It also helps to build their confidence and their self esteem and raise their aspirations.”
The video will be available to view at theladdercentre.co.uk in about two weeks time.
