A WOMAN raising money for cancer research has renewed her efforts after a fourth member of her family was diagnosed with leukaemia.
Allison White, of Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, was diagnosed with leukaemia in July last year.
Having already lost her cousin, Garry Hart, 12, to leukaemia 20 years ago and then her aunt, Lorna Goss, 58, a decade ago, Miss White was devastated to learn another cousin, Richard Taylor, 29, had been diagnosed with it.
Miss White, 32, who has raised £9,000 for care and research into the disease, has planned another fundraising event.
She said: “Doing the fundraising gives me lots of confidence because I lost my hair and the chemotherapy has left me with bone, joint pain and thyroid problems, but it helps give me a focus.”
The event will take place in Newton Aycliffe Workingmen’s Club at 7pm on Saturday, September 11, and will feature live music, raffles, auctions and bingo. Tickets are £5.
