BOLDON are back to full strength as they begin the six game run-in that could bring them their first Durham Senior League title since 1959.

Skipper Chris Ellison and Sean Bradbury both return to the table topping squad for today’s crunch match with third-placed South Hetton.

The visitors, who have lost just one game this season, are missing Gary Adey.

At the opposite end of the table Marsden simply must win against the team just one place above them, Durham City. The gap between the pair is a formidable 42 points so skipper Chris Mann, supposed to be out with injury for the season, bravely returns to try and motivate his troops in a last throw of the dice.

Another Boldon team, CA, also stand on the verge of history.

But first they must overcome Seaham Park on successive days with today’s Durham Coast League encounter followed by tomorrow’s Frank Lees Rose Bowl Final played at Ryhope.

Success in that will put Boldon within touching distance of the triple crown, and they have more or less a full team on both days with only Gary Critchley missing – Carl Purvis steps in.

Park’s Andrew Worthy, John Atkinson, Thomas and James Ferguson all miss out, so they turn to Mick Evans and Alan Cooke.

With Kimblesworth almost home and hosed in the Durham County League championship, attention now focuses on the battle for the runners-up spot where just six points separate three sides.

And two clash today at Evenwood where the home team, as ever, include Neil Teesdale. The one-club man passed the 10,000 career runs with his 144 not out last week and he will present a major obstacle to visitors Willington who have won the last four on the trot.

The third team in the equation, Esh Winning, go to Mainsforth where the home team are severely depleted by the holiday season.

Morpeth will host the Tyneside Charity Bowl final tomorrow, assuming last night’s semi between Benwell Hill and Swalwell concluded.

Swalwell continue to operate at full-strength, other than broken finger victim Gary Johnson, and today’s NTSL visitors Percy Main have John Lindley returning in place of Mayank Agarwal.

Former player Andy Smith has re-signed for bottom club Lintz, and with Mickey Edmunds and Graeme Clennell back the result from their home match against Tynedale will be awaited with keen interest by their fellow relegation contenders.
