POLICE have appealed for two men who accompanied a teenage rape victim to hospital to get in touch.

A 15-year-old was attacked in the Leazes Park area of Newcastle on Friday, June 25 going into Saturday, June 26.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said last night: "It is believed they may have been on their way home to the Kingston Park area following a night out in Newcastle city centre.

"The men accompanied the girl from Leazes Park to the RVI (hospital) at around 5.30am on Saturday, June 26."

DC Mick Farnsworth said: "I must stress that these men are not suspects, but we believe they may have valuable information.

"They met the victim shortly after the incident and we would urgently like to speak to them so we can get a full picture of the events of that night."

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and bailed for further inquiries.
