AIR ambulance crews had to land on a rural village green as they rushed to the aid of a patient this morning.
Emergency services were called to Reeth, near Richmond, North Yorkshire, at about 9.45am, after a 57-year-old woman became ill.
She was transported by land ambulance, from her home to the village green, where crews from the Great North Air Ambulance were waiting.
A spokesman for the air ambulance said the appearance of a helicopter on the village green drew considerable interest from villagers.
The patient was airlifted to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.
The air ambulance spokesman confirmed she had experienced an "acute medical emergency".
