THE last remaining Barney Bags have been reduced to £1.
The reusable shopping bags went on sale last March, aimed at reducing the use of plastic carrier bags in Barnard Castle.
Since the jute bag was launched, more than 2,500 have been sold.
Annalisa Ward, co-ordinator of the Barney Guild, which issues the bags, said: "The Barney Bag continues to prove really popular.
"The price has been reduced to sell the remaining stocks of this design, and the next version of the Barney Bag will be in production in the near future."
The project is run by Durham County Council, Barnard Castle Vision and County Durham Sustainability Project, and is supported by Teesdale Marketing and by the former Teesdale Local Strategic Partnership.
