FARMING charity stalwarts in North Yorkshire have been recognised for their efforts.

The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) annual awards ceremony saw North Yorkshire praised.

The county's RABI organisation picked up the Sam Taylor Cup for being the most innovative group.

It is the third time in three years the region's RABI has picked up an award at the ceremony.

Nigel Pulling, chief executive of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, won an RABI trustee award for his hard work.

Liz Johnson, of the Agricultural Insurance Underwriters Association, claimed the RABI Cup for someone who has been outstanding.

Chris Andrew, regional officer for North Yorkshire, nominated all three of the award winners.

She said: "They are just really, really excellent and will back everything we try to do.

"All three of the winners have done really well and all three of the awards are totally deserved.

"I only give nominations if they are deserved and this year I nominated all three of them."

Mr Pulling is to be presented with his award at the Great Yorkshire Show next month.
