A MASSIVE clean-up operation involving the police, fire brigade and other agencies, has taken place in a North Yorkshire town.
Operation Enable arrived in Stokesley this week and targeted graffiti, damaged signs and speeding drivers.
Led by the Hambleton Community Safety Partnership, rubbish was cleared, cars were checked and home fire safety checks carried out.
Sergeant Nick Walther, of Stokesley police station, said: "It has gone very well. All agencies and authorities have turned up to do their bit, and even school teachers joined in.
"Staff from Stokesley Comprehensive helped us patrol the area to keep anti-social behaviour under control and my officers will be continuing those patrols.
"In just one day, we've managed to get into two of the larger estates, around North Road, to tackle rubbish and graffiti problems.
"My officers visited the elderly and filled out 38 questionnaires regarding their community.
"The responses will be passed back to the relevant authority, which could lead to follow-up calls from repair workers and the council.
"It is a very positive operation, which has an effect on the whole community."
Operation Enable is targeting the north-west of the town over three days and will finish today.
