YOUNG footballers are hoping that England will follow their lead - after they won the World Cup.
The Copeland Road Primary School football team from West Auckland took on 32 other teams from across Wear Valley to win a mini-World Cup tournament at Soccarena, in Durham, last week.
Each team represented a side in this year's competition in Germany, and Copeland Road played as Costa Rica.
They beat Coundon Primary School, alias Brazil, 9-4 in the final to win a replica World Cup trophy.
Janet Stobbs, a teacher from the school, said: "We are delighted and very proud of our children."
