REDCAR'S hosts the first major meeting of the 2006 Flat season when the £100,000 William Hill Lincoln heads a quality programme on Saturday March 25.

Yorkshire's seaside course is one of the fairest in the land. Racing on the present site began in 1872, prior to that, meetings had taken place on the beach, making Redcar one of the pioneers of all-weather racing.The impressive facilities include the highly-regarded Crows Nest restaurant a glass-fronted dining area overlooking the track.The amenities in the Tetleys Bitter Course Enclosure are also superb.

Other major races are the totesport Zetland GoldCup (won in 2005 by Blue Monday, who went on to clinch the Cambridgeshire) on Bank Holiday Monday, May 29. On August 12, Redcar stage a new £50,000 Sprint. The totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy on Saturday, September 30, is a Listed race with a guaranteed minimum value of £200,000 making it one of the richest races in Europe for juveniles, won last year in exciting style by the Yorkshire-trained Misu Bond This day also featuresthe £30,000 Final of the John Smith's Straight Mile Championship Series.Once again, Redcar hosts two Sunday fixtures, on July 23 and August 13, with the accent very much on providing providing superb entertainment for the whole family, while the ever-popular Ladies Night takes place on Thursday evening, August 24.

HOW TO GET THERE: By car - the racecourse is well signposted from the A174 and A1085 from Teesside, linking from the A1, A19 and A66. By rail - Redcar Station is a few minutes walk. By air - Durham Tees Valley International Airport, (01325) 332811, is a 30-minute drive away.

DESCRIPTION OF TRACK: A left-handed, flat, twomile oval track, with a long run-in of five furlongs, which extends backwards to form a straight mile.

EFFECT OF DRAW: No significant advantage.
