When The Libertines imploded so spectacularly at the start of last year, the wise money was on troubadour Pete Doherty hogging the headlines.
He's certainly done that in recent months, but his notoriety has had little to do with his band Babyshambles' self-indulgent and sub-standard debut album, Down In Albion.
Instead, it is fellow Libertine Carl Barat that looks like hitting all the right notes if this debut offering from his new band is anything to go by.
Rowdy and raucous, Bang Bang You're Dead is surely the kind of song Doherty should be writing, instead of sloshing his career down the pan.
