A 25-YEAR-OLD woman who fell asleep in her car after a night out before driving home has been banned from the roads for drink-driving.

Katherine Mitchell, of Prospect View, Northallerton, was banned for 20 months at Darlington Magistrates' Court yesterday after she pleaded guilty to drink-driving.

She was stopped by police and found to have 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The court heard that she had been out with friends in Darlington, and had drunk four shots of vodka and six bottles of lager, but had become separated from them. She returned to her car and fell asleep but when she woke at 4am she was cold and decided to return home.

She was also fined £100 and ordered to pay £55 costs.
