A SCHEME to help blind people live independently at home has marked its first anniversary.
The County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially-Sighted, based in Church Lane, Durham City, joined forces with the Home Independence Service, run by Durham County Council, last May.
This led to Calvin Hedley, who is registered blind, running the society's resource centre, which contains equipment to help the visually-impaired.
The resource centre is open Monday to Friday and an appointment is necessary. To book, call 0191-386 8175.
